See you soon!!! ~~~~~~~~ Friday, October 28th, 2011 Que Bueno's "Dead Man's Ball" ![]() ...let the madness begin!!! Tuesday, October 25th, 2011 SO MANY GOOD THINGS!!! We're very happy to say we've had lots of good things come in the last few weeks...talking with you about what's been good and why has been fun too! And that's the idea...good things with good friends!
Top favorites include (clockwise from left to right): ![]() 1. Arbol de Vida Chardonnay 2010
Yellow color, slightly
golden. Intense nose of
lemon and pineapple, with notes
of mineral and vanilla.
Smooth and creamy; a buttery
finish of exotic fruit...and
heavenly good!
2. Argyle's "Nuthouse" Reserve Pinot Noir 2009 For those of you familiar with the Nuthouse style, you’ll know that on release these wines don’t always leap out of the glass, they need time in the bottle to open up aromatically. Not the case with the 2009 Nuthouse Pinot Noir! This wine is alive with aromas of darkest cherry, cloves and cinnamon. It is no different on the palate—almost explosive in its expression of sweet juicy fruit...raspberry cordial...and black cherry cobbler surrounded gently by subtle oak tannins. This wine finishes like a dog that doesn't know when to go home...keep him for yourself and put a smile on your face.
3. Perez Cruz's "Liguai" 2007 The grapes were hand picked on the last week of April, looking for the right tannin and flavour ripeness. Small-lot of grapes was made to reveal unique characteristics of every parcel. The grapes were selected and cleaned on specially tables at the Mezzanine floor, on the tanks, with gravity flow. The grapes were carefully crushed and they continued a cold soak maceration during four days at 10º C. Hand pumping-over was done to make soft tannins extraction during fermentation and total period of maceration was of 30 days. Malolactic fermentation undergoes in French new one uses oak barrels.
The complex, elegant aromas await discovery: black berries, pepper, cedar wood and chocolate, mingled with light toasted note from the French oak. Its is a concentrated wine with a solid tannic structure and a long, persistent finish. Total barrel aging: 16months.
Sourced from fruit grown principally on the Domaine de L’Herre this has vitality, freshness, energy and class. It’s a perfect Seafood wine that will be frightening plenty of Sancerre’s and Pouilly Fume’s on it’s travels.
5. Fairhope North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon 2007
2007 is a classic year yielding
wines with excellent balance,
fine structure and concentration
having great aromatic and flavor
complexity.
6. Vieux Telegraphe "La Crau" Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2009 94 points - Wine Spectator "This is crammed with fruit, spice and structure, as braised fig, plum skin, cassis and anise notes wrestle with roasted apple wood, melted red licorice and tar for now. The embedded grip should carry the finish until this assimilates fully. Best from 2014 through 2024. 5,000 cases imported." - WS
7. L'Oustal Blanc Cuvee "K10" The bomb...a rich, full bodied red, full of ripe fruit flavours. Inky-lush-purple stain the moment it spreads itself upon pouring. Intense aromas of red and black berries with some spice and tar notes. The tannins are ripe and full but well balanced. Organic and Biodynamic principles. All in all, a total bad-ass.
8. Cuvaison Napa Valley Chardonnay 2009 Kiwi, clove spice, nectarine and lime zest with a hint of toasty oak. Lush, mouth filling flavors of peach, apricot and papaya backed by vanilla and allspice. A super supple wine with a creamy, silky texture and vibrant, fresh fruit. Nicely balanced with a clean, satisfying finish.
9. Freestone Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2007 WINEMAKER NOTES: The 2007 growing season was long and dry, yielding small berries with tremendous flavor and concentration. This wine has more depth and power than the 2006 Freestone Pinot Noir, along with the typical structure and elegance of the Sonoma Coast terroir. The wine exudes layers of sandalwood, anise, cassis and dried tea leaves. Its density lingers on the palate and offers flavors of plum, bing cherries, black tea and tobacco, while the finish provides the spicy and earthy characteristics that are typical of Freestone wines.
10. Sol Fa Sol Torrontes 2010
First of all,
this stuff is
awesome....drinks
like a dream.
The color
is pale golden
with hints of
green. Fine,
delicate aromas
of fruit. A
delicate
unctuous mouth
feel and elegant
structure along
with a well
balanced and
pleasant finish
make this an
easy to drink
wine. It is
light, floral
and fruity,
ideal as an
aperitif and for
pairing with
white meats.
This is the sunny Thursday morning on a weeklong drunk. Splendid!!!
OH! And I almost forgot...
All Hallow's Eve is upon us...
